My name is Lindsey Taggart and I am a Pediatric Sleep Consultant and the founder of Lindsey’s Little Sleepers LLC.  I am also a Newborn Care Specialist.  A Newborn Care Specialist is a highly trained individual specializing in all aspects of newborn care.

I have worked with newborns and toddlers for over 20 years.  I graduated from The College of Wooster with a Bachelor’s Degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders and Early Childhood Education. 

I started out as a Behavior Therapist (Applied Behavior Analysis) for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder for 7 years.  During that time, I was also a part-time Nanny.  I married my husband, Brent, in 2013, and transitioned into a full-time Nanny.  The newborn I was caring for, in 2013, was having trouble sleeping, and I wanted to help.  With a background in behavioral therapy, I started reading as many books as I could and doing my own research online and sleep trained the baby on my own. 

From there, I started taking online sleep training courses and officially learned how to sleep train and consult.  I also became a Newborn Care Specialist.  I started Lindsey’s Little Sleepers in 2020.

I completed my Newborn Care Specialist training through Newborn Care Training Academy  and my sleep training through Summer's Sleep Secrets program, as well as Newborn Care Training Academy's Advanced Sleep Course for newborns.  I attended a Pediatric Sleep Conference, "Sleeposium 2020", through the Child Sleep Institute.    

I also hold certifications from the American Academy of Pediatrics "Safe to Sleep" program and I am a Safe Sleep Ambassador through Safe Sleep Academy: Cribs for Kids.   

 

My husband, Brent, is a Software Engineer. We live in a suburb of Cleveland, Ohio with our two rescue dogs.  We enjoy spending time with our family and traveling to warm places.

My Philosophy

It can be frustrating and exhausting when a child is not sleeping well.  This aspect of parenting can seem blurry and intimidating at times.  It's almost impossible to sort through the advice of family, friends, and internet resources without feeling completely overwhelmed and confused.  

My mission at Lindsey's Little Sleepers is to equip parents with the knowledge and skills required to lay a healthy sleep foundation for their child.  I believe the positive effects of sleep will last a lifetime!  Lindsey's Little Sleepers is a place to find help, support, and guidance without judgment or guilt.  

I do not push the extinction method, or more commonly known as the "cry-it-out" method.  True extinction method, or "cry-it-out", is putting the child to bed and leaving the room for the entire night or nap time and never checking on the child, whether that be for 3 hours or 12 hours.  I do not believe there is only one way to teach a child healthy sleep practices.  Instead, I offer customized sleep plans based on what feels comfortable for you.  Some parents and children do wonderfully with a few nights of timed crying, while others choose a more gentle approach.  I support both types of sleep conditioning.  The recommendations I make depend on the sleep history, the temperament of the child, as well as the tolerance level and parenting philosophy of the parent(s).  There are dozens of ways to teach a child to sleep - it's never a one size fits all solution.  

I don't only work with babies, I am qualified to work with children ages birth to 5 years of age.

Sleep consults are typically done over the phone and via e-mail.  After you purchase a sleep package, I e-mail you an extensive sleep questionnaire for you to fill out and e-mail back to me.  This is how I will initially learn about your child's sleep issues and sleep history.  After I receive it back, we will set up our 45 minute phone consultation to go over any questions you may have before I create your child's customized sleep plan.  Depending on which package you chose, I'll walk you through how to implement the plan and how to tackle any surprises that may come up throughout the course of the plan.  Take a look at the different package types to get a better idea about how they work.  

It typically takes 1-3 weeks to see signs of progress.  Some children take longer and some respond more quickly.  Some methods are faster, and some take more patience on our part to see them through.  In every case, the fundamental difference is whether or not the parents are consistent.  If you stick to the plan and stay in touch with me regularly, the amount of time it takes to see results will be greatly reduced.  

As soon as we agree on a sleep plan, it's expected that you will follow through and be consistent with your child.  Child sleep conditioning is only successful when parents and caregivers stick together, stay consistent, and practice patience.  It took your child months to develop unhealthy sleep habits, and it won't be an overnight fix.  Together we will show your child how to fall asleep, stay asleep, and grow to have many happy, well-rested days.  My guarantee is that I will support you and give you the tools you need to be successful throughout the process.
